Iran Democratic Transition Conference V
Constitutional Revolution
The Iran Democratic Transition Conference (IDTC) V will convene on June 26, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Rayburn House Office Building (Room 2325), United States Congress.
Hosted by the National Iranian Congress (NIC) in coordination with Congressman Ted Poe, and featuring remarks from Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, this conference will bring together leading Iranian thinkers, Iran scholars, policy experts, and U.S. lawmakers to examine realistic pathways toward democratic transition in Iran.
IDTC V will focus on advancing a secular, pluralistic, and democratic future for Iran, offering a pragmatic discussion of political, social, and strategic challenges facing the country. Building on the success of previous conferences held in collaboration with prominent members of Congress—including Senators John Cornyn and Jeff Sessions, and Representatives Ted Deutch and Trent Franks—this year’s conference aims to deepen dialogue and foster a shared vision of liberty and democratic governance.
A central highlight of the conference will be the introduction of a draft proposed Constitution for a future free and democratic Iran, the result of years of collaborative work by National Iranian Congress members worldwide. Additional sessions will explore the dynamics of Iran’s freedom and democracy movement, the role of religious freedom within an Islamic society, the influence of media, and the implications of U.S. policy toward Iran in the post-JCPOA era.
